The Barracudas' swimming season consists of three different sessions:
September to April
During this most competitive time of the year, Barracudas swim in both North Country YMCA League meets and meets sanctioned by US Swimming (USA).
April to June
This session enables swimmers to stay in condition, and gives novice swimmers interested in joining the Barracudas a chance to gain experience. This team swims a small number of USA meets.
June to August
While practices are held indoors at the Y, competitions are generally in USA meets swum in outdoor pools. This session is also a great time for new swimmers to join the Barracudas.
In order to join the Barracudas in any of the three swim seasons, swimmers must meet the following qualifications:
* Swimmers must be full facility members of the Southern Saratoga County YMCA. * Swimmers must pay team fees and a USA membership, costs for both of which vary according to the season; in addition, for any USA meet swimmers choose to swim there are nominal fees charged by the host team that swimmers pay. * Swimmers--and their families--must understand that the team consists not only of the swimmers and coaches, but also of the support members: the swimmers' families. Parents/guardians must be willing to accommodate their schedules in order to bring swimmers to practices, to cheer them on during meets, and to help perform the work--both at meets and behind the scenes--needed for the team to exist.
